Estate Sale Services
An estate sale is an auction designed to dispose of a substantial portion of the materials owned by those who are downsizing or of a recently deceased loved one.
McKenzie’s Associated Auctioneers holds a minimum 3 auctions per week. Including Vehicle Auctions, Returned Merchandise Auction and any other auctions.
Online estate auctions are becoming more popular as people are looking for quicker and easier ways to liquidate their estates. Online bidding allows prospective buyers to bid from the comfort of their own home, while still maintaining the competitive nature of a traditional auction. Auctions are providing results for buyers and sellers.
A carefully planned accelerated marketing program gives your property high exposure. Auctions are an excellent way to convert assets to cash in a short time period. Competitive bidding determines the best price for your properties. Just remember, the marketplace will determine what the real price is for you assets. No More. No Less.
The advantages of buying items at auction – motivated sellers, pricing transparency, competitive bidding environment, buyer determines the price, and no negotiating!
Popular auction items include entire estates, antiques, furniture, automobiles, heavy equipment, machinery, returned merchandise, vintage items, coins, stamps, jewelry, and other collections.
The Process of Online Estate Auctions
- An online auction generally lasts 2 weeks.
- Cataloging – We will come to your home ahead of the 2 weeks to tag and photograph everything that will be available for auction, the items will remain at the home.
- Online Preview – As soon as the catalog is published online, people are able to view the items. A preview onsite can be held but it is up to the consignor. Generally consignors elect to not hold a preview onsite. We do not display the full address of the house, usually we will just list a street or road. (We only give the winners the number address after the auction has closed.)
- Advertising – The catalogue will be marketed through various channels including website, social media and targeted email. Our full email list for all auctions consists of 46,000 recent bidders!
- The Bidding Begins – Bidding opens as soon as the auction is posted, bidding is normally quiet early on, the action happens the day of the auction and going into the closing of the auction.
- Payment Collection – The day after the auction has closed, we handle the payment from buyers for the items, and send receipts to the buyers.
- Pick up – Usually happens 2 days after the auction, a 6 hour pick up window is scheduled for items while our employee supervises. Buyers come to the house with their paid receipt to pick up their items. If a buyer has forgotten their receipt, we will have a paid receipt onsite.
- Payment to the Consignor – You will receive the cheque and a complete auction settlement including itemization of sales, commission, expenses (i.e. auction fees, advertising, labor, misc.)
